The Curious Case of…

“Sometimes we’re on a collision course, and we just don’t know it. Whether it’s by accident or by design, there’s not a thing we can do about it.” This is one of my favorite lines in the movie The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Another one is when Brad Pitt’s character said, “Your life is defined by its opportunities… even the ones you miss.”

I’m a Brad Pitt fan (I’m not going to apologize for that) and the movie obviously spoke to me on so many levels but even more so right now. I’m at a crossroad where every decision, action and reaction I make will shape my life in the next few days, months or years. It’s an excruciatingly impossible dilemma that I never thought I’d find myself in. Nevertheless, I’m neck-deep in it and just trying to keep my head above the water to keep from drowning in misery, regret and self-pity. It’s time to let go of any dreams, aspirations and goals of the past. Time to retire those rose-colored glasses and see the world as it really is. Play the game of life, according to the cards I’m dealt with. After all, ”nothing lasts, and what a shame that is.”

Forgive me if I’m not going to be a source of inspiration for now or for a long time to come. I suppose the well of hope has gone dry and its lifesource has been severely depleted at the moment. I do take comfort from these words:  ”For what it’s worth: it’s never too late or, in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit, stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you’re proud of. If you find that you’re not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again.”

Bottom line: “You never know what’s comin’ for ya.”

As I am reading your post, I was thinking at the same time how I go along in the years to come. It all depends on us how we figure it out, how we do thing, how we work for it and how to achieve the wants and needs in our entire lives.

I haven’t watch any movie lately, but heard so many telling to watch this and that. I hope I have time, too tide earning money, leaving my white monkey who is now retired by himself at his house resting, enjoying his retirement.

Looking back what I had in life I would say Im very lucky to where I am now. Im glad to be able to get up and walk past my miseries. Im very positive to achieve my goals but I have to help myself up. As God never sleeps and listen to us all. I pray for mercy, I thank Him everyday, just like doing something good everyday so I feel I deserve to be alive.

Lets make the world worthty to live, spread the good news, LOVE AND PEACE has to reign.

    take care Ta……

I have not watched the movie. But like you I constantly fish for quotes in films and books especially of ones that would define or help me become a better person. As I was reading your post, I felt the angst, the confusion that you were going through. From time to time, I get such feelings–choosing between passion or necessity. And when I go through such dizzying emotions of helplessness I always go back to the words: “We live on borrowed time.” And these words are what push me to keep going on what I am passionate about. You are right by saying that “you never know what’s coming for ‘ya.” Delightful or devastating it may be. But like what Dr. Magorium said in the movie “Dr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium,” LIFE IS AN OCCASION. RISE TO IT.

So I end this comment by saying…May you find the answers that you’re looking for. May you see WISDOM’s guidance and May you feel the wonderful embrace of PEACE.

You’re one of my favorite pals on Friendster, Rose. I wish you all the best.

    Take care,
    Wen
